Rather than post every time something is added or updated on TopStocks.com.au, I thought I'd keep a blog on what's happening so you can always revert to this for the latest news.
Searchable ASX Announcements - Another Update
Enough members have asked us to include a ticker search into the ASX announcements, which has been done. So now, as well as keyworkds, you can include a ticker in that field and get, say, every announcement relating to BHP for example (i.e. from BHP itself or any announcement that mentions BHP).
Searchable ASX Announcements - An Update July 17, 2008
You will notice now the ASX announcements has changed somewhat.
You can setup multiple searches (with different criteria in each - i.e. setup a director trading search, a trading halt search, exploration search etc.)
You can also now add sector into your search (i.e. only announcements in real-estate or only announcements in the materials sector.
You can also add keywords - so "show me all announcements in the materials sector, that is an exploration update, and that has the word gold or silver in it.
It's quite powerful.
AND....
There is an emailing feature.... so now you don't have to worry about running your searches everytime you remember to - it will email you everytime an announcement matches any of your search criteria.
The feature is currently available for all members, and will stay that way - but only pro members will get the luxury of the email notifications (however we will be giving the email notification to everyone for a week or two)
Searchable ASX Announcements July 10, 2008
Today we went live with an Australian First! TopStocks is proud to announce that we are now indexing and categorizing every market sensitive announcement and every director related announcement on the ASX.
This is a major feat - and a first for certainly any stock forum, but probably even in Australia (I'm yet to see anything similar).
Members can now visit our search page, input what categories of announcements they are looking for and then they are shown a list of all announcements that match their categories. For example - "show me all recent ASX announcements that involved an exploration update" or show me all categories where a director was buying over $100k worth of his own stock either directly or indirectly.
This is just the beginning. We will, in the coming week or so, allow members to search for keywords (i.e. show me all recent exploration updates with "uranium" in the keywords) - and even an email feature so when any announcement is made on the ASX, that matches your criteria - you get an email!.
Free members will get limited access to this tool once it's in full production, however while we are in beta phase, its for everyone.
Private Messaging Now Free July 10, 2008
We are now allowing all members, free and paid, to access the private messaging feature of the site.
Industry Breakdown / Sector Giants July 5, 2008
A nice little feature has been added to the site that allows users to see at a glance which companies are leaders in their sector and what percentage of the sector they occupy (based on market-cap). You can find this tool on the top left box, under the search button, called "industries". Or you can just go here.
TopStocks 2.0 Online! June 30, 2008
Might be the end of the financial year, but the start of something very new for TopStocks.
Version 2.0 of the website was released today. After 3 months of gruelling coding, the site came online with relative ease and migration. There are tonnes of new features but the direction of the new site is to provide as much user-to-user information as possible. You can read our press release here.
Stock Forums have a general reputation of being a discretionary place to "hang out" because the industry is full of what is known as "ramping" - that is people trying to falsely inflate the price of a stock by "ramping it up" on forums so they can exit at a profit leaving the "suckers" high and dry holding a dog stock. TopStocks has always had a ranking system whereby members are ranked according to the success or failure of their stock tips, but with Version 2.0 - we are taking this to the extreme. Not only is the ranking still in full effect, but the reporting and statistics for each member on this site is so involved that you can get an incredible feel for the type of person you're looking at. To will take you some time to even discover all the features of our member reporting - its that involved... but you can start by clicking on a members username, and going from there.
Other features of the site include a more functional layout. A lot of "Tabs" and less clicks needed to get where you have to go.
