     PRESERVE THE LEMMING

The Rodent species:

Lemmings are small, mouse-like rodents. Their population numbers can fluctuate greatly over a period of 3 to 4 years; as their numbers greatly increase, which causes the animals to leave their homes and scatter in all directions, leading to a severe reduction in their numbers. They have many predators including foxes, owls and weasels. They live less than 2 years when in the wild. There are approximately 12 lemming species around the globe.

Habitat: Lemmings live in the cold tundra, marshes, and meadows of Northern America and northern areas of Eurasia.

Diet: Lemmings are herbivores and they favor moss and grass-like vegetation.

Anatomy: Lemmings can range from 8 - 15 cm long plus a very short tail. They weigh from 14 - 113 grams.

It is commonly believed that lemmings have a tendency to jump off cliffs on masse, this however is a myth. Yet their human counterparts are quite different...

The Human species:

The human lemming can be found in most stock markets around the globe and vary in size depending on lifestyle choice and family genetics.  Their population numbers tend to explode in waves depending on what “perceived” cataclysmic event they feel has justified their brief jaunt into the daylight by their mad selling of their stock.  They have essentially one main predator – the cunning, very patient and cashed up sophisticated buyer.  Their lifespan varies depending on demographics, lifestyle choice, chance and stress levels caused by their ever-present feeling that their stock holdings will evaporate in seconds unless they reach for the sell button.  The number of species of human lemmings seem almost endless.

Habitat:  They tend to find cover in small to mid-cap stocks, mainly speculative plays.  Although they have been known to venture into ‘blue chip’ defensive positions, they still tend to exit this normally safe abode and needlessly flock to cash.  This puts them at great peril of being eaten by their main predator – the sophisticated buyer.

Diet: Varies from species to species.

Anatomy: They come in all shapes and sizes.  The less successful ones have digits that are too enlarged and thick and find it difficult to effectively find their way to hit the sell button.  This results in them smashing the keyboard with their palm in a mad rage in the vain hope that they have successfully found the sell button.  Their vision is generally very poor and short-sighted.  Long-term vision is not their strength.

Despite their weaknesses, the human lemming plays a pivotal role in the food-chain and in the continuance of a forward moving market.  They are essential in creating wonderful buying opportunities for the savvy investor.  Their existence is vital for you and me.  So please, look after them, conserve them, protect and save them.

Indeed, preserve the lemming.
