It's called, The 2010 Goal, because that's what it is. It's more than a
goal- it's a huge deadline I impose upon myself. It's the difference
between living my dream now or maybe not for many years. It's the
difference between "stepping off the treadmill" now or getting on it
for what may seem a long time.
My grandfather told me a story that seemingly changed my view of life
forever. He told me the story of the village that had no water - one
man hired people to carry the water from the nearby lake to the village
and made money on the difference he charged the villagers for the water
and the amount he paid to the water carriers. He made money today, but
another man took 10 years to build a pipe from the lake to the village,
and once completed, the pipe carried water to the village forever. He
instantly became a millionaire after years of toiling away. From
memory, the story is from 'The Richest Man in Babylon'.
You see, I finished my undergraduate degree in July 2008 and all my
life I vowed I was never to go out and work for someone else all my life. I've
always dreamed of having my own business - managing funds and trading
the markets. Getting involved in property and business ventures is also something I have wanted to get involved in.
The 2010 goal is precisely a deadline I have set for me to prove to
myself, that I am capable of trading not only my own money, but that of
others. The goal is to achieve a 100% return on my capital by December 2009, if I cannot achieve this, I will close the doors and go into full-time work. The dream gets buried for who knows how long. If I achieve it, I open the doors and let life beyond the treadmill begin....
